Yahoo! GroupTo join the AU-OC Yahoo! Group send an email to: au-oc-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. The Orange County Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State maintains a Yahoo! Group for easy communication which you can use in one of two ways. You can accept the invitation to join without having a Yahoo! ID. This means that you will be notified of issues and events by email at a frequency that you determine (every email, daily summary, etc.) Or you can create a Yahoo! ID (this is a free service from Yahoo!) and browse the Group, review posted files, post messages through the Group and so on. If you already have a Yahoo! ID there is no need to create another one. To get a Yahoo! ID:Go to: http://my.yahoo.com/ Select the “Sign up now it’s free” link on the right side of the page When you have done this it will take you to a page to set up your interests. To visit the Yahoo! Groups:Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com. You can find the Americans United Orange County by typing "AU-OC" in the search box. Our group is monitored and you will need to wait for the monitor to approve you before you can get into the group. Once you have been approved, go the AU-OC group and on the right hand side of the page you will see something that says “edit your membership”. You can select to get a daily digest of all emails, individual email, no email etc. This is what you choose depending upon how you want to get information posted as group messages. Also on the right hand side it describes how the group works. In our group all messages require approval and the moderator decides what messages get posted and what do not. Messages of a partisan political nature or those expressing hate or intolerance will not be approved for posting. On the left hand side you will see a list of items such as files, messages, polls, etc. Clicking on files, for example, will let you see any files that have been posted to the group which you can then download. If you click on “messages”, you can read messages at the Yahoo! Group level rather than (or in addition to) getting individual messages in your own email. |
