Declaration Deceit: Calif. Parents Blast Right-Wing Sham

Parents and students in California are ramping up their efforts to hold accountable a Religious Right group that last year accused public school officials of barring the Declaration of Independence from classrooms.

The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), an Arizona-based legal organization, fired off a press release last December accusing officials at Stevens Creek Elementary School in Cupertino of banning the Declaration of Independence and other historical documents that mention God and religion. The ADF's press release also announced a federal lawsuit on behalf of fifth-grade teacher Steven Williams, who accused the school's principal of singling him out because he is an "orthodox Christian."
